Curvy World develops original design concepts, architectural drawings and formal systems available for licensing, commissioning or acquisition. Concepts are conceived as autonomous research pieces, adaptable to furniture, interior architecture and spatial applications.
The studio develops pieces handcrafted in hemp-lime bio-concrete, ceramic and eco-friendly materials.
Through these materials, Sarah Montet explores a practice in which furniture and objects become micro-architectures, shaped by the curve, materiality, and the relationship to the body.
Each piece belongs to a coherent formal universe, where artisanal fabrication meets architectural thinking, giving rise to environments that are both sensitive and structurally constructed.
Each creation is conceived and crafted in the artist-designer’s studio, using materials sourced as close as possible to the place of production, in the Paris region.
These materials are selected for their structural, sensory and environmental qualities, in order to produce durable pieces designed to engage with bodies and spaces.
Hemp, wood, lime, recycled marble powder, stoneware and linen form the experimental ground of Sarah Montet’s practice.
Through their shaping and transformation, these materials become structures, embodying a formal idea through the repetition of gesture, the precision of drawing, and the control of volume.
Through the repeated gesture of the hand on material, each piece acquires its own singularity.
Shaping does not seek to conceal matter, but to reveal its intrinsic qualities — texture, density, variation, and at times, its irregularities.
Material is sculpted, carved and structured to produce inhabitable forms, where depth, softness and thickness coexist.
Through manual making, Sarah Montet creates functional sculptures — volumes conceived to be lived with, to accompany everyday life and to structure space.
